Meet Our Team

Brenda J. McGivern, CPA

A CPA and active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Brenda McGivern launched her own public accounting and management consulting firm in 2001. Since then, the company has grown to be one of Boston’s most trusted sources for financial and tax advising.

Before starting the company, Brenda worked as an accountant for 8 years – 5 of which were at a large international CPA firm. As a result, Brenda has extensive experience in federal, state, and local tax planning, as well as international tax planning, estate and succession planning, mergers and acquisitions, capital retention, and IRS representation. She has also coordinated assurance engagements, such as financial statement audits and reviews, and compilations (from the planning through reporting phases). Additionally, Brenda has prepared and reviewed filings for numerous regulatory agencies, including the Securities & Exchange Commission.

Before beginning her career, Brenda was selected from over 2,000 candidates to participate in an 8-person intensive financial management program at Bull HN Information Systems. This program consisted of graduate-level classroom study and 2, 6-month rotational assignments in financial operations. In her course of study, Brenda graduated Cum Laude from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst with a B.S in business administration with an accounting concentration.

Currently, Brenda sits on the boards of 2 local organizations. She resides in Stoughton, MA, along with her husband Brian, and their sons, Sean, Ryan, and Conor and their retired service dog, Davis.

Brian J. McGivern, CFP®, MBA, EA

Brian McGivern joined Brenda J. McGivern, P.C. in 2002 after working in financial systems design, integration, and implementation with such powerhouses as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Stride Rite, and Keane, Inc. As a former systems analyst, developer, and project manager, Brian boasts significant expertise in audit, financial, and operational accounting, as well as tax preparation and planning. Brian holds the Enrolled Agent (EA) designation from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Brian graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree (BA) in Sociology with a minor in Political Science. Upon graduating from the University of Massachusetts, Brian entered the Cooperative Master of Business Degree (MBA) Program at Northeastern University in Boston. Brian received his MBA with a concentration in accounting, after having completed internships with Lockheed Sanders and Coopers & Lybrand.

Brian is a Certified MindBody Business Consultant. MindBody is a software-as-a-service company that provides cloud-based online scheduling and other business management software for the wellness services industry.

Brian also received a Certificate in Financial Planning from Bryant University and has earned the Certified Financial Planner® designation. Brian is President of Stonestreet Financial, Inc.(SFI). SFI offers financial planning services and investment management services for business owners and individuals.

Currently, Brian resides in Stoughton, MA with his wife Brenda and their sons, Sean, Ryan, and Conor and their retired service dog, Davis.
